MUZE STORY

inspiration is in the name

In retrospect, the muze story began with a painting start-up I built from the ground up & ran for two years as a senior university student. Besides allowing me to pay off my school debt upon graduation, this formative experience was like cathing an entrepreneurial bug for life. 

Right around that time, I moved in together with my future wife into our first own place - a shoebox-sized studio apartment. That was when I discovered the joy & transformative power of decorating. But more importantly, as I was refreshing our new place with a coat of paint, I had an epiphany. 

I realized that interior painting had a lot of room for creativity as a decorating method. Somehow this unlocked the type of creative thinking in me that seemed to be dormant up until then. Shortly after, it also dawned on me that household painting could be my outlet for creativity and my stepping stone into the world of interior design and art.

Although I come from a lineage of artisans and a family of two accomplished fine artists and sculptors - my dad and my uncle - I didn’t think about my artistic DNA much before. 

These ideas inspired me to dream.

My Bcomm landed me several corporate gigs. After graduating, I did business analytics and merchandise planning for two Fortune 500 retailers in Toronto. Yet, one morning I woke up knowing I had to follow my heart, quit my day job and find my true calling in life.

And five years ago, I did just that. 

The idea of introducing creativity to household paint application inspired me to transform my life from a successful career in corporate retail into my dream life of an artist, designer & creative entrepreneur - my true calling. 

That’s why I like to say that inspiration is in our name.

Intimate connection with tools, materials and surfaces is at the heart of what we do, be it the execution of an art installation, a wall design or a simple paint job. It is the essential link between mind and body, between an idea and its manifestation. For us, it is about pride in one’s craft, respect for the commitment required to learn the tools, understand the materials and surfaces. Perhaps more importantly, it’s about knowing and appreciating how things are made and their true value.

OUR SERVICE

The creative side of our service provides a unique opportunity to personalize a built environment - living or commercial - with a range of creative options.

As a visual artist, I create original site-specific art installations inspired by the spirit of the people and informed by the spirit of the space.

As a designer, I create & execute custom patterns, colour compositions, architectural & artisanal wall treatments and graphic wall designs that elevate the space by responding to its architectural needs and imbuing it with a character.

Because interior surfaces are our canvas, we also offer fine wall & cabinet painting to ensure they are perfectly primed for our creative work.

We can also deliver a beautiful paint job or a kitchen makeover that will make your walls or cabinets look their best.
